20

So today, I am officially 20 weeks along; I am at the halfway point in my pregnancy. There is a lot of excitement in knowing that I am already half way there, but there is also some anxiety in knowing that I have half way to go. To be totally honest, pregnancy is not my favorite thing in the world. Don't get me wrong, it is SO worth it in the end, and even though I haven't met him yet I am totally in love with this little baby that I am carrying.

Sometimes I find myself wondering why it is that God created us to carry our children in our womb for 9 months. Did you know that the gestational period for a rat is 22 days? And the gestational period for elephants is 22 months…that’s almost 2 YEARS! This week Wyatt is about 10 inches long and weighs about 10 &1/2 ounces. Just in the last 2 weeks I have really started to feel him move…I am well past feeling only flutters. I can actually feel the boy kick! I think that maybe God gives us this time to bond with our child. Could you imagine if pregnancy only lasted 22 days? It would be over before you ever got to enjoy being excited. The kicks would start and then it would be over. There would be no time to ponder about what your child will look like, they would already be there… and how on earth would you get everything ready??? One day you’d be skinny, and the next you’d be huge (What a funny thought!)…Or what if pregnancy lasted 22 months? Let’s face it, we would all die. Whatever the reason is, I know that God created it to be this way because He knew it was good.

One smart cookie!

One of Cadence's favorite things to do is dig trough my purse and her diaper bag. She enjoys inspecting everything and seeing if she can figure out how it works. She has really liked the package of wipes for a while. I think she likes how much noise it makes. I tell you, she is getting smarter everyday!

First she pulled out the package of wipes...

She worked until she got the top flipped open...

Pulled out ONE wipe...

Then closed the wipes...

2 days ago I found a wipe on the floor. I looked and couldn't figure out where it had come from, so I decided that I had left it out. Then I found another one yesterday and thought Jake was being careless when he changed her diaper. Turns out Cady is just one smart cookie!

More stuff

Cadence will be a year old 6 weeks from today. I could almost cry just thinking about it. Where did a year go? She is getting so big so fast. She is trying to walk a little more now, her fine motor skills are getting a little better everyday and she is using words! Words! I mean only one at a time, but words!

On Thursday I went to the Pregnancy Help Center (of the Concho Valley) for a meeting. If you don't know much about it you can check out their site at: www.pregnancyhelpcenter.net/. They are really an AMAZING organization centered around Christ and and saving innocent lives. Anyhoo, they are having a benefit fundraiser in September and I get to go! I am so excited!!! They are having an amazing speaker and it's a chance to really give back to an amazing cause. At the meeting they talked to us about the center, the benefit, and then we did a prayer walk. They moved into a new building earlier this year, and the story behind it is TOTALLY a GOD thing! So, they asked each person there to pray around the building. They had little notes posted at the door to every room asking for prayer for specific things in that room! SO COOL! Anyway, my favorite room was the sonogram/ultrasound room. They said that it was the most powerful room in the whole building because it is there that people SEE life, and many make the choice to keep the baby! Amazing!

Saturday I made the mistake of making a Target run! I try to avoid tax free weekend like I try to avoid shopping in December, but I really needed to get garbage bags and diapers. There were people everywhere. It was insane! Next year I will have to plan better!!! If anyone went, I hope you survived!

Jake worked this whole weekend. It's really not my favorite thing, but I do like that on Sat. and Sun. he is able to come home for lunch. It's really nice to get to spend a little time together as a family, even if it is just 30 or 45 minutes. Plus, that way is a guarantee that Jake gets to see Cadence awake that day! Of coarse I always make us a gourmet meal of sandwiches with a side of amazing chips and perhaps a pickle. lol

Last night I seasoned up some tilapia and grilled it with some veggies. It was SO good. Then, since I was trying to stick with the healthy meal options, for dessert we had cheese fondue. Bahahaha! Okay, so I killed it with the cheese fondue, but it was sooo worth it! Plus we needed to practice because last time we totally messed it up.

I don't know if you can tell, but I am in the food stage of my pregnancy..I love me some food! :)

Ahhh...(a sigh of relaxation)

So Cady and I just had 3 wonderful days with her daddy! It's very strange to have Jake off during the weekdays, but it does allow us to get a lot done and go places during slow business hours. That is really nice. This week we were able to spend most of that time at home, which I know allows Jake to get more rest. I think he took a nap every day (and they were well deserved!).

On Tuesday morning, Jake and I spent some time outside working in the yard. We noticed that some of of the grass didn't look like it was getting enough water so we wanted to see if some of the sprinkler heads needed adjusting. I hadn't planned on getting all wet, but while I was trying to get one of the sprinkler heads unclogged, I accidentally unscrewed the whole thing and water shot everywhere! It was a mess. Since I was already wet, I thought Cady might have fun playing in the sprinklers too. So, we set her in the yard and let her check them out.

By the time we were finished fixing the sprinklers and Cady was all done playing we were all soaked! It was tons of fun!

That afternoon we took Cady to the mall to buy her first pair of shoes! It was very exciting! I know that she's not quite walking yet, but she wants to get down and stand all the time. Usually I take her everywhere barefoot, but all the germs on the floor of the Dr.'s office, WalMart, the grocery store, etc. totally gross me out. So, I decided that shoes were the way to go. I think that I went and pre-looked at every store around, there is just not that good of a selection around here. It made me miss "the Dirty-J" where there were 3 huge malls and a set of outlets all within 45 minutes of where we lived...
Anyway we ended up with...
the cutest little pair of pink Converse! They are absolutely adorable!

Yesterday was just a day of relaxation! It was WONDERFUL! For the first time since I became a mom I went and got a pedicure all by myself. It was so relaxing and so worth the $20!

Confused!

Jake is working today. He is also working tomorrow. I am pretty much confused all the time about what day it is. Humph! I think this schedule could drive me insane. I'm pretty sure today is Saturday, but I'll know for sure what day it is when I show up at church tomorrow. If no one is there, I'll know I'm off a day or two.

Do you know what this is?
The box says: "Electrical Plug Protectors"

The website says:
"Plug protector covers one electrical socket each and clip to electrical cord when outlet is in use. Covers deter children from putting sharp objects or fingers into unused electrical outlets."

As it turns out...

They don't deter my child from doing anything! Instead they attract her to the wall, where she is able to pull the plug protector out of the socket and put it into her mouth. Evidently to her it looks like a Binky! So in her little mind we have plugged binkies into the walls all over the house for her convenience...
SUPER!

It's a...

Soooooo, today we went to the doctor. I love sonogram/ultrasound days. I find myself in constant awe at the tiny pictures on the monitor. Little feet, little hands. It's amazing that this early in pregnancy you can even see the structure of the face and the beginnings what your child will one day look like. Everything on the ultrasound looked great. Watching all 4 chambers of the little heart beat reminds me of the mightiness of our Creator. I am so glad that everything looked and sounded good.

Over the weekend Jake and I headed to the Guadalupe to go float. This is the first float trip ever that I didn't get bumps and bruises. I don't know how I managed it, but I sure am glad. We had a great time visiting with all Jake's friends from college. It's amazing how when you start getting a little older that NO ONE wants to stay up all night. I really like that! Everyone was really sweet and considerate of me since I was the pregnant lady. It was really fun!

Cadence began taking steps yesterday. She took 7 in a row, it was amazing! I couldn't believe it. I didn't think she would even try for another month or 2. I spent the rest of the day trying to convince her to do it again... it didn't happen. She can stand there, not holding on, for a really long time. But instead of walking, she wants to sit down and crawl. If you won't let her she will take a step and then fall forward or backward laughing because she knows I'm going to catch her. What a stinker.

For some reason She has become fascinated with the little cable connector thing that sticks out of the wall in the living room. Yesterday she got in BIG trouble (as big as it can get at 10 months) because she wouldn't listen to her daddy when he told her not to touch it. Jake and I think that she might be a little confused. When Jake told her no, he raised his voice a little, told her no and squeezed her hand. Since then, when she wants to touch it, she shakes her hand at it and yells! Maybe she thought Jake was telling the plug "no"???

Oh, yea! So in January, we are expecting Wyatt Reed Hamilton! That's right, IT'S A BOY!!! We're pretty excited to be adding another BOY to a line of great men! =)

10 months!!!

Today, Cady is 10 months old!!!
She is such a sweetie! I can't believe that it has already been so long that she has been in my life. But I am so glad! I praise the Lord for such and amazing and wonderful blessing!

This weekend we went to Dallas to visit some family. Since there were several of us going we decided to take 2 cars down, so my MIL, SIL, Cady and I headed down early and then the boys loaded up and came later in the day. On our way down we got into a little fender bender :( When traffic came to a screeching halt, the guy behind me didn't see my brake lights until he was about 6" from the bumper...Bang! Anyhoo, not really what you want on a trip, but I have to tell you that God was totally there. We are going to take the Sequoia and have it looked at just to make sure there is no structural damage to the car, but really all I lost was a little paint. He (the guy who hit us) lost half his bumper. It was like God pushed the guy's van down until it perfectly lined up with the trailer hitch on my car. And then the guy got out, and his biggest concern was that we were all okay. and he apologized over and over. THEN the cop came like 20 minutes later, so it was really fast, and he was really nice too. So overall, not bad for a wreck! I mean I don't want to do it again, but it was all just another example of the goodness of God and how he takes care of his people!

The weekend with family was WONDERFUL! We had a really good time. Very little sleep, but a great time. On Sat we headed to Canton to Canton Days. Let me make a recommendation to anyone out there... Don't go in July/Aug when it is 102 degrees!!! It was hot! we all sweat! and it was hard to enjoy looking at all the neat stuff, because it was SOOOOOOOOOOO HOT! Cady was such a little trooper though! I am amazed by her patience with us! If I was her I would have been throwing a fit, but she didn't! We did finally find her some A/C though! That was a blessing for all of us =)
I think I probably gained 12 pounds over the weekend with all the good food. I am nervous to go to the doc next week  and see the damage done. Oh well!
