Loosing W and the BIG Move

I lost Wyatt today. I put him on his mat of blankets in the living room floor and walked into the laundry room to get a load out of the dryer. I almost had a heart attack when I walked around the corner and saw that his little body was no longer where I had left it. As I quickly walked through the living room to begin my panicked search, I heard him squeal. He was behind the couch (shouldn’t I have known!?). Somehow, he managed to roll himself through the living room and around the side of the couch. Shooooooeeeeeee; That was scary for a second!

Yes, little I.Y. (as Cady calls him) is rolling all over the place. Every time he conquers a new motor skill, he gets even more excited (and I do too!). He can sit up for a few seconds now. He is pulling his legs up under him some, which is sort of odd because he doesn’t have the stiff arm part down yet. We’ll get there I know we will. It’s just all so exciting!

Did I tell you that we made the BIG MOVE? Yes, little W now sleeps in his own room now. We were going to move him out of his bassinet, which lives in our room right beside our bed, when he turned 3 months old, but he still seemed SO LITTLE! Then he started eating 2 times at night and that seemed like a lot of times to have to walk across the house in the middle of the night. Then I got really lazy and learned how to nurse while lying on my side so that I could sleep more. Then we were going to wait until our friends from NJ came so that we could let one of them sleep in that room. Then W and I were going out of town so there was no point in going through all the trouble and missing out on those precious hours of sleep. So Sunday night when I got back from my trip, I decided that there have been enough of “then” and it was time to do the deal. To my surprise he only woke up once that night, and then only once every night for almost a week. Then Saturday something went terribly WRONG. Little I.Y. decided that he would not like to sleep in his room anymore… 5 times he woke up that night, and Sunday night, and then he woke up every 30 minutes from 11:00 pm until 2 am this morning night. I fed him and then he proceeded to scream until 2:45. Then he was up again to eat at 5, 6:30 and 8. It also did not help that Cady has not been sleeping well either. Is it the moon? (people are always blaming this sort of thing on the moon) Hopefully, whatever it is has now left the building, because this momma is running a little low on sleep!

Thank You

My Dad served this country, as did his father before him. My mom's dad did too.
Beacuse of my history, there is no way that I could let this day pass by without letting them know how grateful I am for their willingness to serve, and how proud I am to have that as a part of my history.
Thank you to ALL those who served and are serving. Even more, thank you to those who gave their lives for the freedom we here in the United States are blessed with.
Happy Memorial Day!

One Whale of a Headache

I had a dentist appointment Monday. It was my first one in more that 7 years. I HATE the dentist. Well I did until I met this one - but I'll talk to you about that later.

About an hour before my appointment I noticed that I was having a little trouble seeing. It was like a combination of one of my contacts being fuzz, and when you look into the sun and then walk into a dark room. I decided that it was time for a new pair of contacts and changed them before I left. On the way to the dentist's office I noticed that I had a little headache. I thought it was probably due to a lack of sleep. I made it to my appointment where I had a few papers to fill out. It began fine, but as I filled out the information, suddenly I couldn't read the words. I don't mean that I couldn't see them; I mean that my mind couldn't make sense of the words. I sat there trying to sound out words...and the sounds didn't make sense. It scared me! For a little while I thought I was going to have to ask for help. I finally finished and made it through my time with the doctor. I didn't want to say anything because...well, I guess I just didn't want to look dumb.
After my appointment my head hurt BAD. I was getting weak and nauseous. I called my mom, who was watching C and W for me and told her that I was on my way and asked if she would make me some water. I thought that maybe I was dehydrated. I barely made it home, and I must have looked awful because when I walked in the door Mom looked worried. She told me to go lay down, and though I wanted to protest I just couldn't.
I woke up an hour later, not feeling great, but good enough to function.
I spent all that evening thanking Jesus for my dentist appointment. If it wouldn't have been for that, Mom probably wouldn't have been there and I don't think I could have made it with out her help.

Oh, I didn't have any cavities! YAY!!! I really was afraid that since I hadn't been in forever he was going to have all kinds of terrible things to tell me. However, all I need now is to go in for a cleaning and I'm set for another year. AND I'm not afraid of the dentist anymore. My new one isn't scary or mean at all! If you need a good one, I'll give you the name of mine... He does magic!

Weekend Madness

Oh, Summer is here with all it's wonderful flavors...like this corn we cooked out on the grill!

Today I have been doing Mom things. “What are Mom things?” you ask. Well let me tell you. This morning I washed the dishes, cleaned the counter tops, vacuumed all of the hard floors in the house, mopped all the floors in the house, re-vacuumed the floors in the living room, cleaned up puke, Started laundry, cleaned up spit-up, bathed 2 children, read “If You Give a Pig a Party”, folded laundry, worked on colors and counting, made lunch and got everyone down for a nap. Then got everyone a snack, got everyone ready, went to the bank, the cleaners, and the grocery story, unloaded everything, and went to celebrate my BIL's birthday! You know, Mom Things.

We left on our trip Thursday afternoon. Mom and I headed out to watch My niece’s Field Day at school. It was tons of fun, and Very HOT!

We (Mom, Ber, Rach, Wyatt, and I) left RL and headed to North Texas to see my Cousin, her husband, big brother and their 3 new little girls. Our sweet other cousin let us crash at his house during our stay; we didn’t want to intrude on momma and her babies any more than we already were. We got there so late Thursday night that we just went to bed that night. FINALLY Friday morning we were able to see everyone! They were much more beautiful in person than they were in the pictures. It was amazing; 3 perfect and beautiful and healthy little girls. Only God can work magic like that.

Baby A

Baby B
Baby C

Here they area all sleeping. Right now they live in the living room.

This is big brother, Will.

Wyatt was SO good! He just needed a little love!!

There were times I said to myself, “this is easy!” Of course there were 4, sometimes, 5 of us there. Most days my cousin does most of it alone. AND, she does it with such grace. She has learned to accept help when it’s offered, she is a good delegator, and she takes it all one step at a time. I was totally in awe.
Right now Baby A is about 8 lbs, baby C is about 6 lbs and Baby B is somewhere in the middle. They will be 3 months old tomorrow!!!

While we were there we learned that my sister’s father-in-law had been taken to the hospital with chest pains. The doctors scheduled an angiogram for Monday and were planning to keep Amber’s FIL in the hospital until then so we headed that way. We made a few stops like we had previously planned, but tried to hurry and get there so that Ber could be with her hubby and his family. It took forever! For a while I really thought we were never going to make it! But we did…finally!
Sunday we made a retail stop on our way to the hospital, then after a quick visit headed back home. We learned that everything is ok with Amber's FIL, they think they can treat it with medication. So that's really good news.
It was a good weekend, but a long one!

Our GROWING little boy

Last Wednesday we babysat my nieces and nephew. It is quiet a handful when they are all together. It was just for the evening, and thankfully we were able to keep everyone safe :)
Cady LOVES to play with her cousins. By the time they left she was SO tired!
That night our friends Tom and Jen came in from NJ. It was so good to see Tom again and learn that I didn't scare him away by going into labor the last time he was here. He was very happy to meet little Wyatt. This was Jen's first time to Texas so we did all the good TX stuff like take her out to the Bar H where she was able to see the cows, chickens, goats and horses, shoot guns, and have the biggest hamburger ever (maybe not EVER, but it was really big!) We also ate BBQ which is a very important part of our great state.

This little girl is getting sassier by the day. My father-in-law assured me not to worry...
it only gets worse!

Little Wyatt is still growing like a weed. Yesterday we went to him 4 month checkup where we learned:
He now weighs 17 pounds and  4 ounces
and is 25 1/2 inches tall.
This means that he is in the 75th percentile for height
and the 90th for weight.
Just as I suspected, he's a fatty!
Which we think is GREAT!!!

Currently he is wearing a size 2 diaper. Really he needs a 3, but we are finishing our last little package of size 2's before we move him up. Then, he and Cady will wear the same size! Isn't that insane?!

He LOVES, LOVES, LOVES food!
So far the only things that he doesn't love are green beans and oatmeal.

He is rolling from tummy to back and back to tummy, which his mommy thinks is super impressive.
And, if you sit him up just right, and rest his elbows on his legs, he can sit up for a few seconds ;)

Blessings

If you are listening to, as well as reading my blog, you will notice that I have added a new song. It is called "Blessings" and is by Laura Story. You can see her tell the story behind the song here.
Yesterday at church one of the Praise Team members sang it. It was so moving. It's a song that I know I have heard before, but never really listened to the words. If you have the time, I encourage you to go to the bottom of this page were you can start the song over. Really listen to the words...
I had my very first chance to do that as I listed to it being sang yesterday morning. It really touched my heart. At the very last part of the song, as the girl sang she began to cry. It was so sweet, and such a blessing. As she began to cry you could just feel that she knew Christ was in the words... I loved getting to be apart of that.

Mother's Day and other Shinanigans

Cadence has decided that she is big enough to hold Wyatt...
It's very sweet,
but not so safe. What you don't know is that in the picture after this one, she has him in a head-lock.

Here is the my sweet little guy in the jumparoo. He really likes it!
After he had his first turn, guess who decided they needed to get in too...
Yes, this little one!

You know how I told you before that Wyatt's hair has started to fall out? Well, it's not falling out the same way Cady's did. When hers started to fall out there was hair everywhere and on everything. It lasted a couple of weeks and then it was over. Look at Wyatt. Do you see how this side
is different than this side?
There is only hair missing on his left side. I started to notice that he puts his left hand behind his head a lot. Then he started holding onto his hair. I have decided that he might be pulling it out! HOW DO I MAKE HIM STOP?! It has to hurt, right?

Saturday morning I woke up to this...
Cady and her daddy were making my breakfast. I think it was supposed to be in bed, but I woke up to early :) Very sweet! It was part of my Mother's Day. They did it on Saturday because our Sunday's are way to hectic for anyone to be having a "real" breakfast.

After breakfast, they did this...
Cady really wanted to ride on it but couldn't figure out how to get her feet on the pedals, so she convinced her daddy to get on so that she could ride with him! Smart girl! :)

Saturday afternoon we headed to my parents house. We (the girls) decided that we would like to have a Derby Party for our Mother's Day celebration. I mean, why not!?

So, during last week I headed to Christians In Action to see what I could find... They have really great stuff! These were the treasures that I found!!
I really liked the shape of the one in the middle but it was really plain. We added the flowers to it to jazz it up a little.
I told Mom that I was pretty sure this one hung on someones wall. It has a whole dried arrangement glued on there.

Doesn't this one look just like my sister? I thought it was a perfect choice!!

The kids had a blast playing in the little pool in the back yard. They were total silly-ness, and it was wonderful!

I forgot Cady's swimsuit :( You can see that it made a difference :)

Here we all are! We hung out outside and watched the kids play and just had a good time visiting. Then when the race was about to come on, we ran inside to watch it.
We all randomly (because we know VERY LITTLE about horse racing) a horse and then they were off...
None of us won...

After the race we (I mean the boys) cooked some chicken breast and shrimp out on the grill.
Then we whipped up a spinach and strawberry salad, rice pilaf, and chocolate cake. YUMMY!!

Sunday we went to church and then headed to my in-laws for lunch and fellowship.
 It was a good Mother's Day(s)!

CAUGHT!

I just caught Cadence drawing on herself with a pen...

We have been over it and over it; pens are only for drawing on paper. NOT for the table, and NOT for our arms.

As soon as I whispered her name she started crying...
Does that mean we're almost there???

Stuff and more stuff

Every one in my house is sleeping...I can't believe it. So nice the sounds of silence are!

This morning was pretty good. Wyatt did a lot of playing and needed his mommy to hold him a little less. That was really good, because Cady is still having that ear problem and needed a little extra attention from her mommy. I put W in the jumparoo for the first time today (I'll post pictures later). HE LOVED IT! Mostly, this is good news for me; when I need to get something done I know a place to put him. The only issue we had is that C wants to sake him...not so good, and not so safe. I'm just not sure his little neck can take it yet. In a few months she can shake it all she wants, because he will think it's funny. We are just not there yet.

Yesterday was Mom's and Muffins at Cadys KDO program. We didn't go. Does that make me a terrible mom? There were a few reasons that I didn't want to go but the main one was that I didn't want to be there by myself. I don't really know anyone (which is totally my falt and probably the whole idea of the thing), and I could just see myself attempting to wrestle W and C alone and everyone watching...not fun. So, I waited until a little later and then dropped her off. Perhaps next year when everyone is a little older and then we can all sit and eat muffins together...

Oh, I've been wanting to tell everyone some amazing news. I've ment to for a while now, but I somehow forgot. Maybe 2 amazing newses (you know what I'm sayin'?)
Amazing News #1:
My cousin had triplets! HAHA! Isn't that so amazing. Through a path that only God could open my cousin and her hubby were blessed with 3 beautiful little girls. Babies A, B, and C were all born at 33 weeks and did amazingly well. They are now 2 months old, and 2 weeks ago the last of the 3 was able to go home. It had been an amazing and crazy journey (especially for the parents)! My mom, sis and I are headed up there in a couple of weeks to see if we can help with cooking, cleaning, care and whatnot to give their sweet mom and dad a little relief. I'm SO excited!!

Amazing News #2:
You know how sometimes you pray and pray for something and you wonder if God is listening to what your telling him to do, and then you realize that your not the boss, and that God does everything in His perfect timing? (is that just me??) Well, For almost 2 years I (as well as many others) have been praying that God would bless my sister-in-law and her hubbs with a baby. In February we learned that my sweet SIL is prego!! So, I'm going to be an aunt (again, but I think it's just as exciting as the first time)! The doc is saying that my sweet little nephew or niece should be here around October 19th. Isn't that fabulous? I'm guessing that it will be a little boy, but only time will tell.

Someone's awake...

I'm With the Band!

Friday afternoon Jake, Wyatt, and I headed to Fritztown...otherwise known as Fredericksburg.
At least once a year Jake and some of his good college friends all get together. It just happened to be that this past weekend, Jake's friend Ben and his band were playing in Fredericksburg.
We got there early Friday evening, and had dinner with the crew. Then had a great time just visiting.
Saturday we:
went to Luckenback, TX. We did not however go with Waylon, Willie and the boys.

Then, Saturday evening we headed to:
watch our friend ^ Ben Morris (not Norris) and The Great American Boxcar Chorus (not choir) play a gig at the Auslander.

Look closely at this next picture...

You might recognize the guy on the right...
Jake had a great time playing a few tunes with the guys.

Here we all are.
(sorry the pic is fuzzy...)
