Doctor, Doctor

SOOOOO, I went to the see the doc yesterday. I must admit that I do not totally understand the need for all the appointments. This is how it went:
  • Total craziness downstairs. All the poor little old people can't figure out the registration process. So it takes me 20 minutes to get through the line so the lady can make sure that my phone number and address have not changed in the last 4 weeks (this process takes 30 seconds)
  • Get upstairs and hand the receptionist my piece of paper with name and address.
  • Open book and read 1 page, get called in
  • Weight in and Pee in a cup
  • Go into room get BP taken, and nurse asks how I'm feeling
  • Read 2 pages, Doc comes in, asks how I'm feeling, listen to baby's heart rate.
  • Make appt for next time.
It seems to me that I could call in my weight and BP each week and save us all time, and me money! Oh well! I know that it is all part of the process. It just seems like way too much doctor!
So, everything is great! My pee is great! My blood pressure is great! and the baby's heart rate is great! Plus another GREAT thing is that we ARE going to find out the sex of the baby this time! And out appointment is in 2 weeks! Yay!

Also, Cadence went swimming for the first time the other day! She LOVED it! The pool was salt water (lightly salted) and she loved the way the water tasted. It was so funny! I was so glad that she liked it! She loves splashing and laying back in the water.

On another note...
Cadence's daddy may not be able to feed her anymore. Somehow when daddy is in charge of the feeding it is a total mess! As you can see, something here has gone wrong! LOL!

9 months...sort of

So today Cadence went to see the doctor for her 9 month check up. How you get a 9 month check-up when you are almost 10 months I’m not sure…it’s seems like the information might be skewed a little. Oh well. It turns out Cady is great! She is on the mark for everything (except listening skills), which is right where we want her to be. She was 19 lbs 8 oz and 27.5 inches long. For weight she is still in the 50th percentile, but this time for height she is in the 45th percentile. This is great news!!! She has been in the 10th since she was born, so she’s growing!!! She is still in the 90th percentile for head circumference. “Lots of brains in there,” the doctor said! ;) We also learned that we can now switch Cady over to cow’s milk! YAY!!! This is going to do wonders for our budget!

Last week we got the emergency brake fixed on the Sequoia because it had failed inspection. So today, getting it re-inspected was on the list. It failed again, still due to the break! AHHHH! So I called the place that “fixed” it the first time to see when they would be able to fix it correctly. They were very nice and got us in right away. They apologized and apologized! Then we got the Sequoia inspected AGAIN, and this time it passed! So from there we were able to go and get all the registration stuff done! We are officially Texans with real Texas license plates! Awesome, and we now are finished with all the car stuff. At least for now anyway!

Do you know what time it is?

So this morning I woke up a little after 6. I thought I heard Cady, so I went to get her. When I got there she was standing up in her crib with her cheek resting on the top of the railing, sleeping. Who knew children were like horses??? So, I layed her down and went back to bed, but I couldn't go back to sleep. So now it is 5 'til 8 and I am awake, you know who's sleeping? That's right, everyone else. Seriously??? How is it that the rare time that Cadence sleeps past 7, I am wide awake??? Usually it's 6:50 and I'm not ready to get up. For some reason I was rarin' to go at 6:15 today...
Jake is off for the next 3 days, which is really exciting. It feels like he has been on a business trip because we haven't hardly seen him at all in the last 5 days. I think the 3 days off will be really good. We are thinking of possibly taking a trip or 2 during this trial run of the 4 on-4 off schedule. I'm thinking maybe 1 family getaway, and then maybe a romantic trip for the 2 of us. I would really like for both of them to be relatively inexpensive. I'll have to see what I can come up with. If anyone has a recommendation I would love to hear it.
It's officially 8 a.m. now, Cady is still sleeping. Good for her!

Busy Busy

Cady has been so snuggly for the last few days. It's soooo sweet! I hope this phase sticks around for a while. I think it's because her 2 top teeth are working their way in. Her poor little gums are so swollen. She's not upset about it though, which makes her mommy so happy. She is sleeping a little longer during her naptimes now. I hope that sticks around too!
Jake just got moved to a 4 on/4 off schedule at work. It sounds good. Work 4 days, then have 4 days off. It's just that his days are scheduled to be 12&1/2 hours each day. So that means that somehow we are at 14 hour days, an suddenly he is scheduled to work one of his days off. Hmm? I'm not sure I'm going to like this. Oh well, so it is. We're doing what we can to adjust. Maybe it will make time for a few get aways!
I am hungry. I mean like ALL the time. I felt like poop for 10 weeks, and now all I want to do is eat. I've been watching the Food Network some so I've been trying out a lot of new stuff on Jake (poor guy). So far it's all been pretty good, I think. All I can say is, "Bring on the pounds!"
As far as what's been going on, We have been pretty busy! This is Cadence's new favorite thing to do:
She LOVES to look and talk to herself in the mirror. This is very handy when I need to get ready!

This weekend we had a Welcome Back to TX and House Warming Party. The estimate was that somewhere between 80 and 90 people that showed up. WOW! I had no idea we knew that many people in the area. It was really very nice and gave people a chance to see the house if they wanted to.
We also spent some time on the lake. Cady took her first dip in the water. I don't think she liked it very much. I think mostly she didn't like the life jacket. She just sat on the boat like a "bump on a log" for hours! Even when we put her in the water her expression didn't change. Poor baby. She did however LOVE the swimming pool. She played until she wore herself out. It was such a good time, an we had amazing food!
Sunday we visited my parents church. My cousin was giving her testimony during the service that morning and we wanted to be there to support her. While we were there this little girl sang the sweetest song. I, of coarse, boo-hooed. She couldn't have been more that 8 or 9 years old. It's was so good!
Oh, yes and last. I got all my hair chopped off on Monday!
Hope you all had a great weekend!

One of those days...

I am really emotional today. Actually it's probably been for the last week or so. I'm sure it's due to all the hormones raging through my body, but everything makes me want to cry. Today I looked at pictures of a new baby girl born to a couple that I grew up with, and I cried. The 'd' key on this keyboard is sticking and that makes me want to cry. Cadence is getting so big, and that makes me cry. I HATE being emotional. I mean I think that emotions are good and I think God put them in us because they are good. But the fact that I want to cry at the drop of a hat makes me nuts! I am 13 weeks now so I'm hoping that soon everything will start to calm down.
While I'm gryping (which I know that I shouldn't be doing, but today is the day), you know something else that upsets me? The fact that some (meaning most) people get a pregnancy glow. I don't get that. I get pregnant and my face suddenly breaks out and I look like I'm 13 all over again. BBBAAAHHH! Oh well, in the end the wonderful gift out weighs all these very petty things I don't like about being pregnant.
I knew that this time I was going to look pregnant sooner, but wow! Sooner is now, I guess. Last time I was showing about 20 weeks. Before that I just kind of looked like I was putting on a few pounds. This time, 13 weeks is here and I look like I did at 20 weeks last time. I wonder what that means I'm going to look like when I'm 38 weeks? An elephant I suppose.
I can't believe that Jake and I have names already. We have a definate boy name and middle name,  and a "probably" girl name but no middle name yet. We are doing SO good! When Cadence was born, we had a list of 5 boy names and still couldn't agree on a single girl name. Then there she was. So this time I told Jake that I think we sould do things totally opposite of the way we did them last time. Last time we didn't find our the sex of the baby and waited until the end to find names and everything we bought was nutral. This time I want to find out if we are having a little boy or girl, find names early and tell everyone what they are, and buy things that are gender specific! We are still debating this. I think I'm gonna win though.
When Cady wakes up from her nap in a little while we are off to do some shopping. Friday night we are having a bunch of people over. Some people are having a party for us to welcome us back to TX and into our new house! It should be fun and I'm sure there will be good food. Everything in Texas is centered around good food. So, Cady and I are off to purchase a few last things for the house and some other goodies. I hope we can find what we are looking for. Wish us luck!

Officially Official

Yesterday, My sister-in-law (aka. bff) and I took a little roadtrip down to Fredericksburg. We had a good time, ran in a few shops, had an amazing lunch and picked up some peaches. Somehow by the time it was all said and done, we were driving back with 4&1/2 bushels of peaches. Man, someone has A LOT of work to do, and I think that someone includes me. =P
Last week I went to the doctor and she said it's official, Cadence is going to be a big sister! We are really excited! Everything looks good and healthy. We have one kiddo that was born around Jake's b-day and now there will be one born close to mine. Hopefully much earlier in January than mine. That would be good!

Amazed

To begin, a story:

On Friday late morning, a lady had been running around like a crazy person cleaning this and picking up that. She vacuumed, mopped, dusted, did the dishes, worked on unloading the dishwasher, and somehow managed to still play with and keep an eye on her little girl. All of a sudden the phone rang. It was her wonderful husband. He was saying that on his side of town it was POURING down rain, and asked if it was raining where the lady was. She told him no that there had only been a few sprinkles. About 5 minutes later, in the midst of her cleaning frenzie, the rain hit and it began to pour. It was so beautiful that the lady gazed out the window and for a moment she was carried away in the rushing of this amazing rain. Suddenly she heard, "tink, tink." What is that? "tink, tink" She walked around the sink/island to see her little girl holding, by the handle, a large chopping knife.

I'm pretty sure at this point a "wordy dird" escaped my lips. Evidently in the middle of unloading the dishwasher I abandoned the job and forgot to close the door. Aaaahhhh! Praise God for Guardian Angels! I am amazed how God takes care of me, and my family!

We really had an amazing weekend. Friday night we got to spend a wonderful evening out on the west side of town with family. We had a wonderful meal and spent some good time visiting! Plus Cady had a blast being spoiled by her Grandma and Pawpaw. Saturday we headed north of town to see my sister and her family. We had a blast eating and playing penny poker. Cady loves playing with her cousins! I am so glad that they are having time to get to know each other and grow up together.

For the 4th we headed out to some friends house for a little while, then had dinner at our house with my sister-in-law and her husband. We had a good time visiting, eating and then watched the fireworks! It was a really beautiful show.

At church, the pastor talked about true freedom coming from Christ, and Him giving us the great privilege of living in this country. During Worship we sang this song called "Amazed". It was the first time I heard it and it really touched me! I hope you enjoy it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iV2nCP2mz14
