Some Days

I LOVE my doctor. She is fantastic! However, the wait is horrid! It probably wouldn’t bother me as much, but I have to go every other week and I know our one-on-one time is only going to last about 6 minutes. Sometimes there is a delivery, sometimes an emergency surgery, and other times the office is just behind. Yesterday I waited (in the waiting room) for an hour and a half. The time before that it was 2&1/2. But the truth is that every time I get back in my car after the appointment I am so grateful that I have such an amazing and patient doc, who is an amazing Christian. In my opinion, there are just some things that are worth the wait!

So in my 6 minutes I learned that so far I have gained 28lbs (I am doing so much better than I did with Cadence), it’s okay to take Zantac for the heartburn, fetal heart rate is at 157, and I’ll go back again in 2 weeks… super!

Today I have 2 stories to share with you:

STORY #1
The other day on Facebook someone posted about the pacifier gnome. Evidently this is the little man that sneaks in your house and takes binkies when you aren’t looking. I laughed about it because in the Hamilton House we have been very fortunate to do a pretty good job of keeping up with most of them along the way, although Wal-Mart has claimed a few. Plus, I know an amazing trick! If you loose a few binkies, all you have to do is buy another one, and you will find the one you thought was gone. It’s like magic.

Okay, so I read the post on Facebook and laugh. THEN suddenly pacifiers start disappearing all over the place. No kidding! In the last 8 days we have lost close to 10 binkies! What the heck! It’s like Cady will have one in her mouth, then you look back and it’s gone. I have hunted high and low to no avail. So yesterday, while we were out, I bought another one knowing that now I would find the others… This evening after dinner I gave Cady her binky and she headed into the living room to play while I did the dishes and took out the trash. Then, by the time I finished, it was gone. I looked EVERYWHERE!!! Then, suddenly it hit me…I ran out to the garage, grabbed the garbage sack and ripped it open. After digging through all the nasty, there is was! To bad the garbage truck came yesterday. The landfill now owns about $30 worth of Cady’s binkies.

STORY #2
Let’s face it. Hunting down binkies takes a little more out of me these days, so after I finally got all the trash put in a new bag I plunked down on the sofa for a few minutes and watched Cadence play in the floor. As I sat there talking to her and watching her play I noticed that she was looking at something very intently. She looked like she was petting something with her pointer finger. So, I looked closer… and closer…and closer until I realized that she was indeed petting a spider. She didn’t even squish it! She gently rubbed it with her little finger…OH MY GOSH!!!! So I SCREAMED and then I squished it.

Holy Cow! I'm going to bed.

Random Thoughts...

When is it exactly that you become an adult??? I mean really! Sometimes it's 17 (when you commit a crime), or 18, but when is official ADULT day? Somehow, through most of my 20's I've felt like the same sheepish and shy little kid I did at 16. How does that happen? Even when I was prego with Cadence I felt unsure and self conscious like I was too "little" to be at that place in my life. Somewhere in the last year it's like a light bulb came on, "HEY! YOUR NOT THE BOSS OF ME! I'M AN ADULT!!!" Shouldn't that have happened like...I don't know, 10 years ago???
I am currently watching the Cowboys play the Giants. The score it 33 to 20 and I am so, very impressed at the Cowboys looking like a team today. It's very exciting. I had been pretty sure that being a fan was going to get even harder...Good for them!
Here in the Hamilton House we are continuing to get things ready for the arrival of baby Wyatt. At my last appointment Dr. H said that we should expect Wyatt to come about the same time Cady did. She also said that he is measuring about a week bigger than what he really is. In that case, please pray that he DOES come early!!! Today, I am 31 weeks. If Doc is right, then Wyatt could be here as early as the last week of December. Yikes... I'll definitely be packed this time!
The curtains are hung, Cady's blanket is just almost complete, canvases are being painted for Wyatt's room, the crib is here and put together, and his dresser is started. We (I mean I) are getting things done. Surely in the next weeks we can get it all done and ready for our new little addition!
Praise the Lord for is greatness and blessings. This life is a crazy ride and I wouldn't want anyone else in the drivers seat!
