So being a first timer at this whole parent thing I am learning new things every day. Right now I am trying to figure out discipline for a 9 month old. For the longest time discipline wasn't really necessary because Cady was stationary. Now, however, my little girl is on the move and checking everything out!
I slapped her little hand one time and she laughed at me, so I decided it was a little too early for that to register, so saying, "No!" seemed to be the way to go. First, make sure she understands that. Then, move on from there.
For the last several weeks, we have been working on understanding the word "No". At first, I would say it and Cady would totally ignore me, so I would go over and stop her from whatever she was doing (i.e. chewing on the computer cord) and repeat saying it. Then for a while she would go toward something she wasn't supposed to touch, and I would say, "Cady, no!" and she would look at me and keep crawling toward it. Finally yesterday we had a break-through. Cadence was headed toward the cord for the computer and I told her no, she stopped and sat down and looked at me. I was SOOO happy! She's got it! Then, she smiled at me, took off grabbing the cord and sticking the end of it in her mouth. Poop! Well, I guess we're getting it...
It just makes me so glad that God loves us so much, and is such a gentle teacher. Every time Cadence would go for that cord I would have flashbacks of times in my Christian walk when God told me no and I didn't listen. At first because my ears weren't sensitive to His voice, and as time went on and I learned to hear His voice, I was just disobedient sometimes. I'm so glad that He's never given up on me!

So overall it was a pretty good, and busy weekend. Friday night Jake and I had a wonderful date night! It was so much fun. We went and ate BBQ at a really good place down the street from our house. I couldn't believe the prices. I think I may still be in shock from being in the "dirty J" (as Jake and I lovingly refer to it). I gasped when a whole basket of hand battered onion rings was only $2.50... "Is this real?" I asked the waitress. She didn't think I was funny ;) With 2 crazy plates of food, onion rings, an extra side of beans and 1 tea, we came out at a little over 20 bucks. I am amazed! After dinner we headed out for a movie. We watched "Grown Ups" and it was ssssssssssssoooooooooooo funny! I would definately recommend it! Jake and I were rolling!
Saturday morning we headed out to work at a garage sale my cousin was putting on. We ended up raising over $300 for CF awareness. I was so glad that we were able to be there!
On Saturday evening Jake and I headed out to a baby shower for some friends of ours. We were able to meet their new little boy for the first time. He was so beautiful! Everytime I see a new little one I am in awe of God's mightyness, creativity, and love. I was afraid to hold him because he was SO little. It is crazy to think that Cady was about 2 lbs smaller than him when she was born! And it all changes so fast.
Sunday was a wonderful day of worship at church. The music was great, and the sermon was amazing! I was so happy to be there. God is good, all the time!

Stuff and Things
In an attempt to be VeRy sweet to my husband, I mowed the back yard yesterday, with a push mower. Did I mention that our back yard slopes downhill? It was stinkin' hard! Anyhoo, it turns out that mowing may not be a gift of mine. It was a pretty terrible job really, but it is done!
Yesterday evening we went out with an old friend, and a new one. It's really crazy being back here. I really had thought we would move back here and pick up with our old friends where we left off. In reality, it just like moving anywhere else, we are starting over. Everyone we left behind is in a new phase of their life just like we are in a new phase of ours. So, were off on another adventure of friendship making.
Cadence slept all night last night, which was really good because I think I would have died if I had to have another night like that. We all passed out by 10 o'clock and didn't move until Jake's alarm clock buzzed at 6 or so this a.m. It's good to know that I can make it on no sleep, but I would prefer not to have to do it again for a VERY LONG TIME!
Tonight I am going on a date! I am really excited and almost nervous. Is that crazy? Jake and I haven't been on a "just the 2 of us date" since before Cady was born. I think it's probably passed do. It's so wonderful to have family here that will watch her for us so that we can have a little time together. So the plan is to eat and then watch a movie. I'm not going to tell you which one, because later I might be embarrassed that I saw it. I'm learning that happens sometimes. You see a preview and it looks really good or funny or whatever, and then you get there and IF you don't get up and leave before it's over, you find yourself sneaking out of the theater hoping no one you know sees you. I really hope that's not the case tonight. I'll let you know!

Sleepless Nights
Cadence slept a total of 2 hours last night. Maybe it was more, but I'm sure that is a pretty good estimate. And as if that wasn't tiring enough, now she is a grouchy beast! She doesn't have fever, so that makes me feel better, but I would really like to lay this little girl down for a nap and when she wakes up I would like for her to be my sweet little girl again. It's not looking good, but the afternoon could bring a new attitude. I am so tired! Oh, well there's always hope for tonight.
Last night I told Jake about starting this blog. He was NOT impressed. Instead he told be horror stories about how people read about your life, and then they think they know you. They google your name and address and come dig through your garbage to learn more about you and then break into the house when he's not here...UMMM SCARY! then he says, "or maybe that's chatting." ......?

Blogging
I've been thinking of doing this for a long time, but just got around to giving it a try. I'm not sure that anyone will read any of this, but I guess it's a good place to get it all out. We'll see!
