Nickoel Halmnton

This is how someone spelled my name today....
while I was spelling it out loud to them...
and it was an adult.
They may not be able to find my clothes when I go to get them from the dry cleaners.

In other news:
NOTE TO SELF -
add food coloring AFTER heating what you are coloring!

(my whole other hand is pink too, but I had to use it to take the picture, and my mouth is all pink because I accidently forgot and licked the wrong spoon...)

I'm scared to know what the rest of the day will bring.

Anxiety

I woke up at 5 this morning. Actually, I guess Wyatt woke me up at 5 this morning. He has done really well for the last 2 nights and has been sleeping most of the night. After I nursed him, he went back to sleep....I did not. I laid in bed, my mind spinning about...Cady's birthday party! It's on Saturday and there is just still so much to do. So here I am, going over and over the check list. Checking off the things I have already taken care of over the last 2 weeks, and I have made a list of everything I need to do each day for the next 3 days; many of those items have a time written beside them so I make sure and do it all in the right order.
Is it nuts that I am SO excited about this? My little girl is turning 2, and to celebrate we are including her very favorite thing: CHOCOLATE! I can't wait. I'll post pictures soon.

Things are a changin'...

Yes, things are a changin' here in the Hamilton House. With that change comes much excitement and a little sadness.
This little boy is changing every day. He is into everything. We will definitely be investing in more child safety gadgets in a very short time. He started pulling up last Saturday, when he pulled up in his crib and Jake found him leaned over the front rail. The mattress was immediately lowered to the lowest setting. :) The next place he pulled up was next to the bathtub while Cady was taking a bath. He leaned over to splash in the water and took a head dive; thankfully him momma was right there to catch him before he hit the water...

Yes, that's coffee. Just a little in the bottom of the cup with ice. She really wanted some, so I gave her a little. It's black, no cream or sugar. She really liked it...must be our kid.
Cady started her Kids Day Out program a few weeks ago. Honestly, it's been going horribly! She cries as soon as we walk in the door, screams and holds onto my leg as I leave, and sometimes they have called me to come get her because they can't calm her down. We had a small issue 2 weeks ago, and it really hasn't gotten any better. I want her to get to go play with other kiddos, and do fun art stuff that we won't ever do here, to have FUN. But is it really worth the money, and me worrying all day for her for her to be miserable and make her teachers even more miserable? That is another change that will probably be happening soon. If we can't get this under control, Cady is just going to stay at home with me all day, every day. I wanted her to be able to go for fun, but it's not fun. I was really stressed out about the whole thing until I heard a message about the Lord speaking to us. The speaker was saying that sometimes we need to realize that God uses circumstances to speak to us. I was wondering if that might be what He was showing me through Cady; that the Lord gave me that time when I was pregnant with Wyatt because I was needing help, but now that time is over. We could save that money and use it in a way that's more eternity minded...a few minutes later  we ended up getting paged to retrieve Cady and Wyatt both from the nursery because they wouldn't stop crying... We are giving her one more week to see if she can adjust, but if not I know that God just has other plans for my time and that money. I know that He will provide help for me when I need it, in another way.

Wyatt is getting teeth. The first one popped through Wednesday. It's sharp! You can see the other one coming right behind it AND for the last 3 days Wyatt's top lip has been really swollen and you can see the top ones shifting into place. Looks like he will be a toothy little boy very soon.

He is moving faster than ever and really has to be watched ALWAYS. Here he is stuck under the bed in the guest bedroom.

Another change that we are getting ready for is my sweet little girl turning 2!!! I can't believe it's already almost here. One week from Monday. I'm a little sad. To keep my mind off it, I'm working on a party! AND, two days after that Jake will celebrate his very last 20-something birthday. I think he's sad...

Yes, things in our house are changing, but mostly for the better!

Lotion

I bought new lotion. I didn't actually intend on buying it, but in the process of trying to smell it (I have issues with the way things smell) I accidentally opened it. So, you know, then I had to buy it.
I used it for the first time today.

Smell, it's such a funny thing. It's amazing how just a little scent can bring back so many memories. Sometimes sad ones, sometimes happy ones. There have even been occasions where I have laughed out loud just because of the way something smelled and the memories it brought to mind.

Today, as I squeezed the lotion into my hands and began rubbing them together I suddenly found my self day dreaming about:
cinnamon and powdered sugar covered donuts
butter on club crackers
sugar dissolved in half and half with Rice Krispies poured in
toast with so much butter on it, it had become soggy
soap operas
boxes of chocolates with the corners bitten off
instant coffee
chicken pot pies
domino's
and $20 bills
because the lotion I was using smelled just a little bit like my Grandma. Sometimes I forget how much I miss her.

"More a-store"

This was our conversation with Cady a few minutes ago:

Cady - "Pretzels Mommy, pretzels."

Me - "Oh baby, I'm sorry we don't have any pretzels. Mommy will get more tomorrow."

Cady - "Pretzels Mommy. Pretzels PLEASE?"

Me - "Cady, there are no pretzels."

Cady - "Want pretzels Mommy!"

Me - "Go ask Daddy. Maybe he can explain it to you in a way you can understand."

Cady to Jake - "Pretzels Daddy."

Jake picks her up and puts her in his lap. -"Cady there are no pretzels."

Cady - "Pretzels Daddy!"

Jake - "There are not more pretzels. They are gone-gone."

Cady - "Gone-gone?"

Jake - "Yes, gone-gone."

Cady - "Pretzels Daddy. More a-store."

Jake laughing- "Yes, yes. There are more at the store. And that is why...we need to quit teaching you things."

Labor Day

We had a great weekend. It was our first vacation with our family. It was relaxing and there was no schedule or plan. Exactly what we needed.
On the way, my sweet husband stopped at my FAVORITE place to get BBQ, Big O's. It was so very good! It's been a long time since I've had a chance to indulge. Yum-O!!

We met 3 other couples at the Vacation spot and just had a great time. The boys hunted birds, fished, and chatted while the girls chatted, and swam and watched the kiddos.

The sunrises were so pretty coming up over the stock-tank. It was such a nice view to wake up to each morning.

Cady had a wonderful time playing with her Uncle Chad. He let her drive which made her day!

Wyatt had a good time being held by everyone and hanging out outside.

We even got to see a brand new baby calf that was tiny! Cady and Chandler really enjoyed giving the baby hugs and kisses. :)

There was also a little pool that we were able to swim in. Wyatt LOVED the water. He cried when I finally took him out.

This is my very favorite picture!!!
Thankfully she thought it was funny.

We were able to stay 2 nights and then we headed home on Sunday.
Monday, Grandma and PawPaw came over for a visit.  It was such a good day!

First, PawPaw and our neighbors helped us bring the new climber home.

And then we put it all back together.

Cady had fun pushing Wyatt in the swing while she patiently waited to play on her new toy.

When it was all finished Cady and Grandma played, and played, and played...

Grandma brought some pocket change and helped Cady put it into the piggy banks. Right now Cady doesn't understand the difference between the silver coins and the copper coins so it all comes out pretty fair. I'm sure when she gets that figured out we will have to help her remember to put some of the silver ones in Wyatt's piggy to.

PawPaw and Cady finished up the night playing peek-a-boo with Grandma. They hid under the sheep pelt...

and then Grandma would find them!

It was such a great weekend!
